Madonna is showing some birthday love to her daughter.

On Tuesday, Oct. 14, the “Material Girl” songstress, 67, shared a tribute to her daughter Lourdes, whom she shares with then-boyfriend, fitness trainer Carlos Leon, for her 29th birthday. In the Instagram post, Madonna shared several photos throughout the years of her daughter, including a few selfies of them together.

“Happy Birthday, Lolita! Light of my life. Never forget who you are, Little Star. ⭐️ Shining brighter than all the stars in the sky ✨,” she wrote in the caption. “Never forget how to dream, Butterfly. 🦋 Never forget where you come from. From Love. 🩵💜💙🩷🤍🩶. @lourdesleon

The “Ray of Light” singer paired a belted, black leather button-down long-sleeve top with a sheer skirt and black sheer tights. The pop star completed the look with black sunglasses, two diamond-encrusted chains worn around her neck, a fur stole, and pointed black patent leather heels.

The newly minted 29-year-old opted for a simple look—a black halter midi dress that draped elegantly across her body. She finished the look with sheer black tights and pointed black patent leather heels, just like her mother. Both women wore their hair parted down the center and in subtle waves that fell past their shoulders.

At the event, Madonna and her daughter also had a sweet moment on the carpet, with Lourdes air-kissing her mother and Madonna resting her head on her daughter’s shoulder.

In addition to her daughter Lourdes, Madonna is a mother to five children. After splitting from Leon in May 1997, she welcomed son Rocco, 25, with then-husband, director Guy Ritchie, in Aug. 2000. The singer later welcomed twin daughters Stella and Estere, 13; daughter Mercy, 19; and son David, 20, through adoption.

It’s no secret that Madonna loves her children. On Monday, May 12, she recapped her Mother’s Day weekend, sharing a post on Instagram with several photos of her with her kids. She also mixed in other individual photos of her with her children throughout the years.

“I spent Mother’s Day weekend with 5 of my 6 children. Sunshine, laughter, horseback riding, soccer, and the sound of music!” she began, before poking fun at her children. “The best gift they gave me was the gift of not arguing and being loving to one another. 🩷🌸🫂 When you raise children to be unique and opinionated, you also create your own debate team!!!”

She continued, “Motherhood could never be described with a few words. Nothing can prepare you. Happy Mother’s Day!! To all the women out there doing the heavy lifting! 🏋️ 💪🏻 🎲”

Madonna has been open about how being a mother of six isn’t always easy. The singer told Vanity Fair in January 2023 that motherhood “has been the most difficult, the hardest battle,” adding, “Today I am still struggling to understand how to be a mother and do my job.”

“Because, whoever you are, having children and raising them is a work of art,” she continued. “And no one gives you a manual. You have to learn from mistakes. It is a profession that requires a lot of time. And it is exhausting because there is never rest.”
