Netflix Announces New Docuseries: “REO Brothers: Echoes of Harmony” — A Journey of Legacy, Resilience & Rock ‘n’ Roll

Netflix has officially announced the global premiere of “REO Brothers: Echoes of Harmony”, a heartfelt and high-energy documentary series about the world-renowned Filipino sibling band, REO Brothers. Slated for release on February 14, 2026, the series follows the inspiring journey of the Otic brothers—from humble beginnings in Tacloban to global recognition on the world’s biggest stages. With their signature sound rooted in classic hits from The Beatles, Bee Gees, The Beach Boys, and more, the docuseries offers a powerful blend of nostalgia and cultural pride.

The REO Brothers—Ralph, Reno, Ronjoseph, Roy, and Raymart Otic—captivated the world by breathing new life into 50s, 60s, and 70s classics. Netflix’s documentary brings together archival footage, behind-the-scenes moments, and intimate interviews with the brothers, their family, and music historians. Filipino actors Enchong Dee, Jerome Ponce, and Zaijian Jaranilla join the cast in dramatized reenactments, capturing the raw emotion and pivotal moments of the band’s remarkable rise.

The story begins in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Yolanda, which devastated Tacloban in 2013. Displaced but not defeated, the brothers relocated to Manila with little more than their instruments and dreams. “Echoes of Harmony” highlights how music became their refuge, turning tragedy into triumph and introducing global audiences to the resilience of Filipino talent. Themes of brotherhood, perseverance, and cultural identity are central to the documentary’s emotional core.

The docuseries features a stunning soundtrack of the band’s most iconic covers, including “Let It Be,” “How Deep Is Your Love,” “Surfer Girl,” and “Cherish.” But it also introduces original REO Brothers compositions, performed live for the first time on camera, adding depth to their artistry beyond tribute performances. Collaborations with artists like Bamboo, Lea Salonga, and Ben&Ben offer contemporary takes on vintage classics, weaving generations of Filipino music into a cohesive soundscape.

Behind the camera, award-winning director Erik Matti brings his distinct visual storytelling to the series. He captures both the quiet struggles and the euphoric highs with a reverence for the brothers’ journey and the music that shaped them. The cinematography shifts between stylized concert footage and tender family moments, making it a rich visual and emotional experience.

“Echoes of Harmony” also explores the deeper meaning behind the REO Brothers’ mission—to preserve and revive the timeless classics of a golden musical era. Their performances aren’t just covers—they’re cultural bridges that connect Filipino audiences with Western classics, and younger generations with the spirit of live instrumentation and vocal harmony. The docuseries is as much a love letter to music as it is a tribute to Filipino resilience and artistry.

As the premiere date nears, fans from around the world are sharing their excitement online. Netflix, known for delivering critically acclaimed music documentaries, may very well have another global hit on their hands. “REO Brothers: Echoes of Harmony” invites viewers to not only witness an extraordinary story of survival and success—but to feel it in every chord, every lyric, and every harmony.
