Eva Green to Star in Netflix’s Dark Thriller Series “Angel of Vengeance”

Eva Green, known for her mesmerizing screen presence and ability to portray enigmatic, intense characters, is set to lead a bold new Netflix original series titled Angel of Vengeance. The French-British actress, celebrated for roles in Penny Dreadful, Casino Royale, and The Dreamers, will return to television in what promises to be one of her most gripping performances yet. The series is scheduled for global release on November 20, 2025.

Set in a dystopian near-future Paris, Angel of Vengeance follows the story of Celeste Marlowe, a former intelligence officer turned rogue assassin who is drawn into a conspiracy that blurs the lines between justice and revenge. Eva Green will portray Celeste with her signature blend of elegance, danger, and psychological depth. The story is both a revenge thriller and a philosophical exploration of trauma, power, and redemption.

Joining Eva Green are acclaimed actors Michael Fassbender, Adèle Exarchopoulos, and Charles Dance, with Anya Taylor-Joy appearing in a recurring role. Fassbender plays an ex-mercenary with a hidden agenda, while Dance portrays a morally corrupt political figure orchestrating much of the chaos behind the scenes. The cast brings together European and Hollywood talent for a series rich in character and nuance.

The series was created by Julien Leclercq (Sentinelle) and Sarah Phelps (The ABC Murders), blending Leclercq’s gritty visual storytelling with Phelps’ psychological intensity. The writing is sharp and layered, filled with tension, emotional depth, and unpredictable twists. Filming wrapped earlier this year, with much of the series shot on location in Paris, Lyon, and Marseille, giving it a grounded, atmospheric authenticity.

One of the defining features of Angel of Vengeance is its haunting soundtrack. The theme song, “Ashes and Fire” by Aurora, sets the tone with eerie beauty, while other featured tracks include Massive Attack’s “Paradise Circus”, Woodkid’s “Iron”, and original compositions by Max Richter. Music is used not just as background but as a narrative tool, enhancing the psychological and emotional layers of the story.

Green’s character, Celeste, is a woman haunted by her past—a covert mission gone wrong, betrayal by those she trusted, and a sister lost to political violence. As she uncovers a plot involving government-sanctioned experiments and secret militarized AI programs, her quest for vengeance turns into something far more personal and devastating. The series does not shy away from exploring mental health, moral ambiguity, and the price of revenge.

Early previews suggest that Angel of Vengeance is poised to become a cult hit. Critics who have seen the pilot describe it as “a cerebral rollercoaster, dripping in noir aesthetics” and “Eva Green’s most captivating performance since Penny Dreadful.” The series is split into eight hour-long episodes, each unraveling deeper layers of the mystery and the lead character’s fractured psyche.

The promotional campaign has already gone viral on social media, with Netflix releasing a chilling teaser that shows Celeste walking through a burning cathedral, whispering: “They thought I would forget. I never did.” Fans of neo-noir, espionage thrillers, and character-driven dramas are eagerly awaiting more. Behind-the-scenes clips and character posters are expected to drop throughout the summer.

With Angel of Vengeance, Netflix continues its trend of investing in dark, sophisticated dramas that challenge viewers while keeping them on the edge of their seats. Eva Green, long admired for her magnetic performances, seems perfectly cast as a woman torn between salvation and destruction. As the premiere draws closer, all eyes are on what could become one of Netflix’s most iconic series yet.
