Neil Young’s 2025 “Love Earth” World Tour is set to be a landmark musical journey, blending his iconic sound with a message of unity and environmental consciousness. The tour was initially planned to commence with a free concert in Ukraine, symbolizing solidarity with the nation amid ongoing conflicts. However, due to escalating safety concerns, Young made the difficult decision to cancel the Ukrainian performance, prioritizing the well-being of his crew and attendees.
The European leg of the tour officially kicks off on June 18 in Rättvik, Sweden, and includes performances in countries such as Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Ireland, Germany, and the Netherlands. Young will be joined by his band, The Chrome Hearts, featuring guitarist Micah Nelson, bassist Corey McCormick, drummer Anthony Logerfo, and organist Spooner Oldham.
A highlight of the tour is Young’s headlining performance at BST Hyde Park in London on July 11. The event will also feature special guests Yusuf/Cat Stevens and Van Morrison. Tickets for the Hyde Park concert vary in price, with general admission starting at £109.95, and premium packages reaching up to £400.75 for the Ultimate Diamond VIP Experience.
Young’s relationship with the Glastonbury Festival experienced turbulence earlier this year when he initially withdrew from the lineup, citing concerns over the festival’s partnership with the BBC. He expressed that the collaboration contradicted Glastonbury’s traditional anti-commercial ethos. However, after further discussions and clarifications, Young reversed his decision and confirmed his headlining slot on June 28.
The Glastonbury Festival, scheduled from June 25 to 29 at Worthy Farm, Somerset, boasts a diverse lineup, including The 1975, Olivia Rodrigo, and Rod Stewart in the Sunday Legends slot. Tickets for the festival sold out rapidly, reflecting its enduring popularity.
In addition to live performances, Young is set to release a new album and film titled Coastal, documenting his 2023 solo tour along the west coast. Directed by his wife, Daryl Hannah, the film offers behind-the-scenes insights and rare song performances. The album features tracks like “Vampire Blues” and “Comes a Time,” and will be available following a one-night theater showing on April 17.
The “Love Earth” tour emphasizes sustainability, with all concerts being held outdoors and featuring eco-friendly catering services in collaboration with Homegrown Concessions. This initiative aligns with Young’s long-standing commitment to environmental causes and his involvement with Farm Aid.
As the tour progresses, fans across Europe and North America eagerly anticipate the fusion of Young’s classic hits with new material, all delivered with a message of hope and unity. Despite the challenges faced, including the cancellation of the Ukrainian concert, Young’s dedication to his music and principles remains unwavering.
